How our Iconic Deluge bottle took shape
Did you know that over 70% of consumers in Belgium and the Netherlands are willing to choose sustainable packaging over single-use plastic? (GfK, 2023). That statistic gave us the perfect push at Deluge to bring our vision to life: designing a refillable bottle that’s not only practical, but also makes a statement in your bathroom.
Our goal
We wanted a bottle you’d be proud to leave on display, part of your interior, not something to hide. Unisex, but full of character. Timeless, yet not boring. And above all: made to be reused, again and again.
Our challenges
During Deluge’s development, Sarah and Dominique quickly faced two key challenges. On one hand, they struggled to find high-quality, natural haircare products that truly deliver results, not just empty claims. On the other, finding a packaging partner willing to co-create a custom, design-led solution proved to be a quest. At packaging fairs, we mostly encountered standard bottles, functional, but uninspiring.
For a moment, we considered glass. It felt luxurious, weighty, and elegant. But safety in the shower was a real concern. Still, we couldn’t let go of that glossy look and solid feel.
The result
Eventually, we found a European partner who embraced our vision. Together, we created a refillable bottle using high-quality, rigid plastic: durable, impact-resistant and ideal for humid spaces like the bathroom. It combines longevity with aesthetics: a design that looks good and lasts.
Fun fact:
the bottle’s iconic ridges were inspired by a vintage lamp in Dominique’s home. That personal touch gave the bottle its unique identity and story.
And what about recycling?
Alongside the bottle, we also launched refills for our NR.01 Gentle Cleansing Shampoo and NR.02 Nurturing Conditioner, packaged in mono-material pouches. Made from a single type of plastic, they are easy to sort and fully recyclable. A truly circular solution — no waste, just impact.
